BUILDING INSPECTOR — SUMMARY
Performs inspections of residential, new construction, commercial and renovations to ensure
compliance with building, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing codes. Reviews plans and
permits, advises contractors on code compliance, issues stop-work orders when needed,
documents inspections, and issues Certificates of Occupancy. Provides customer service to
builders and the public and maintains required records and certifications. Other related duties as

Education & Experience
High school diploma/GED with coursework in construction trades and experience in
construction or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of Microsoft office 365 products. (Word, Excel, etc.)
Special Requirements
Valid NC driver’s license. Ability to obtain Level I State certifications in building, mechanical,
electrical, and plumbing within three years and maintain thereafter.
Preference
3–5 years of building inspection or construction experience and current Level I State
certifications in building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing or an NC COQB pre-qualification
letter.
