Under the supervision of the Chief Pilot or Division Commander, the pilot operates a multi engine helicopter in complex airspace, various weather conditions, day, or night utilizing night vision goggles to support various public safety missions. Primary duties include aerial surveillance, assisting in crime prevention and detection, conducting medevac operations, and performing other law enforcement related tasks. Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED, a minimum of 1,500 hours of helicopter pilot-in-command (PIC) experience, including 100 hours of unaided night flight. Additionally, applicants must have either 300 hours of helicopter PIC time in the past 5 years or 100 hours of helicopter PIC within the last 12 months.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from high school or a GED issued by a state department of education; must have completed at least 1500 hours of helicopter pilot-in-command, 100 hours of unaided night flights, 300 hours of helicopter pilot-in-command experience in the last five years or 100 hours of pilot-in-command experience in the last 12 months.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in serving as a routine member of the operational police helicopter crew, supporting law enforcement and emergency response missions.

Driver's License (Required)
FAA Commercial Rotorcraft Pilot License (Required)
FAA Class II Medical Certificate-Required upon hire and recertify annually
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check, credit check, driver's license check, pre-employment medical evaluation, polygraph exam, psychological exam, tuberculosis test to the satisfaction of the employer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
May be required to assist with aircraft maintenance and ground handling to include fueling. negotiate all types of terrain on foot; sit, crouch, walk, and run in order to work around aircraft or in the field during routine/emergency police or fire calls for service and during medevac operations; use technical equipment/vehicles; use computer keyboard. Routine part of operational police helicopter crew.
Work is outdoors, with exposure to varied weather conditions. All duties may be performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
